The angular power spectrum of NVSS radio galaxies
We measure the angular power spectrum Cl of radio galaxies in the NRAO VLA Sky Survey (NVSS) using two independent methods: direct spherical harmonic analysis and maximum likelihood estimation. The results are consistent and can be understood using models for the spatial matter power spectrum and for the redshift distribution of radio galaxies at mJy flux-density levels. A good fit to the angul...
متن کاملThe angular power spectrum of polarized dust emission at intermediate and high Galactic latitudes
The polarized thermal emission from diffuse Galactic dust is the main foreground present in measurements of the polarization of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) at frequencies above 100 GHz. In this paper we exploit the uniqueness of the Planck HFI polarization data from 100 to 353 GHz to measure the polarized dust angular power spectra CEE ` and C BB ` over the multipole range 40 < ` < 60...
متن کاملPower spectrum of the polarized diffuse Galactic radio emission
We have analyzed the available polarization surveys of the Galactic emission to estimate to what extent it may be a serious hindrance to forthcoming experiments aimed at detecting the polarized component of Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) anisotropies. Regions were identified for which independent data consistently indicate that depolarization must be small. The power spectrum of the polarize...
متن کاملThe diffuse radio emission from the Coma cluster at 2.675 GHz and 4.85 GHz
We present new measurements of the diffuse radio halo emission from the Coma cluster of galaxies at 2.675 GHz and 4.85 GHz using the Effelsberg 100– m telescope. After correction for the contribution from point sources we derive the integrated flux densities for the halo source (Coma C), S2.675 GHz = (107 ± 28) mJy and S4.85 GHz = (26 ± 12) mJy. These values verify the strong steepening of the ...
متن کاملAn angular power spectrum analysis of the DRAO 1.4 GHz polarization survey: implications for CMB observations
Aims. The aim of the present analysis is to improve the knowledge of the statistical properties of the Galactic diffuse synchrotron emission, which constrains sensitive CMB anisotropy measurements. Methods. We have analysed the new DRAO 1.4 GHz polarization survey together with the Stockert 1.4 GHz total intensity survey and derived the angular power spectra (APSs) of the total intensity, the p...
